I have been working closely with Lisa and can’t say enough great stuff about where she is taking me with my horses. The connection and understanding I have been developing with my horses has been lovely. Lisa has taught me so much about understanding each of my horses as individuals and the unique needs each has, as well as a window into how they see themselves and us. One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most is where Lisa is taking me with my riding. After stripping away all of my crutches, especially my hands, trying to “control” my horse and look good while doing it (which I didn’t), my confidence, ability and pleasure in riding is reaching a new level.
-J. Johansen - Tumalo, Oregon ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I have owned horses for over 30 years, but hadn’t ridden for at least 12 years when, after purchasing 2 young horses and having them trained, decided I better take some lessons. I found I was terrified after not having ridden for so many years and I was afraid of falling and getting hurt. At my age I figured I would not fair as well as when I was young. After taking lessons for 3 years (1/2 years) with other people, I had gotten no further than being able to trot a little on lesson horses with not much more confidence than when I started and still had not ridden my horses. Thank heavens someone told me about Lisa. I cannot believe what I have learned from her, on my horse. Her ability to read people and horses is amazing. My confidence has increased ten-fold, I am learning to read my horse, be able to calm her (she is very sensitive) and give her confidence in my ability to keep her out of harms way. I am loping her a little and my fear of speed is lessening each time I ride and I am really enjoying riding for the first time in years. I cannot wait to be out trail riding with some of my friends. All because of Lisa and her knowledge and patience with people and horses! Lisa is also giving my 2 grandchildren riding lessons. She is very good with them and it’s hard to believe how far they have come from the first time they rode just a few months ago. They started from scratch, having never ridden before, and are absolutely loving it, even the “hard work” part of it, grooming and cleaning up. They are learning things about riding that I didn’t learn until the last few years, most of it in the last few months. Lisa is giving all of us a huge bonus in life. What better way than with horses.
B. LaChance – Redmond, OR ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I am so excited to be working with Lisa. I have been around horses all my life, and even trained a few young ones. But in the past 10 years, I have done very little with them, had a couple kids, and need my confidence back! Lisa helped me assess my horses, market the couple I am choosing to sell and is now giving me lessons. Lisa has the gift of truly seeing the horse. She is teaching me how to look at my mare differently, and I am amazed at how much our relationship is changing (on a daily basis). She is helping me become a well rounded horsewoman, and fulfill my dreams of a special partnership with my mare. From ground to riding with confidence, I am so happy to be in the saddle again! Thanks Lisa~

Lisa Murphy has helped me become a more confident rider. I have been riding for over 25 years, but never knew how to ride confidently. After 1 year with Lisa, I am more confident and my Morgan horse Mo has become more trusting. I have never had an instructor who actually taught me what to do when! She is a great confidence builder. She also has an intuitiveness about her to know just what you and your horse needs. I have also never had anyone take me on the trails to give me real time help. She has helped my horse and I become safe on the trails and given us the confidence to try other things -Diana Pyle- Bend, OR ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Six years ago I had two young horses I had bred who were in different stages of development and temperament; one was two years old, the other four. The older horse, Bart, was pushy and nippy, a typical “teenager” who needed firmness and knowledge of what worked with horses that age. I had neither! The younger one, Tanzeer, was timid and shy and worried about practically everything. I didn’t know how to proceed to help bring him some confidence. At this point, serendipity brought Lisa into my life and things began to change. Lisa at once began to help me set some boundaries for Bart and encourage him to be more cooperative, both when I was riding him and when we were on the ground. In the past six years, he has gone from being a real handful to a real gentleman and a pleasure to ride and to be around. His pushy behavior has been modified to an attitude of courage and curiosity in his surroundings. He has become the ideal trail horse and seems to look forward to his frequent forays into the woods. Tanzeer has also changed quite a bit. We worked with him for many months on groundwork and helping him to deal with the scary world around him. He had never been ridden when I met Lisa, but after most of a year of the groundwork lessons, we eventually worked up to the day when I first swung my leg over his back…..what a thrill! Since then, he has progressed steadily and is performing very well in the arena at all gaits and is extremely responsive to my requests in the saddle and on the ground. Going out on the trail alone is still a challenge for Tanzeer, but with Lisa’s wonderful advice and programs, he is doing better and better and one day will have all the confidence he needs to succeed here, too. I feel that Lisa just made a huge difference in the development of these two young horses….the first time I’d ever dealt with such young ones! They are both such a pleasure to work with, thanks to the endless tips and instructions from Lisa on how to get the best out of them. Thanks a million, Lisa! I don’t know where I’d be if you hadn’t come along when you did!! -Judith Rothman - San francisco, Ca
